Abstract
Apart from the historical aspects, Shiite themes are one of the manifestations of Qajar period art. The first important aspect of this issue is the permanence of these works and the transmission of Shiite, cultural and artistic themes in the Qajar period. Mirror frames were of special importance in the Qajar period, and small lacquered works and objects flourished in the Muhammad Shah period. In terms of artistic style, Mohammad Ismail is one of the skilled artists in this field in the Qajar period. This artist has two lacquer works on the theme of Hazrat Ali and his children, one of them is more anonymous and unknown. In terms of examining the style of this work, it is also important and identifying its characteristics is important. The purpose of this research is to find out the characteristics of Shiite works of Muhammad Ismail Esfahani and to identify two of his works with the single subject of Hazrat Ali and Hasnain, which are less known and studied. The main questions of the research are as follows: What are the visual and religious characteristics of the lacquered mirror frame of Hazrat Ali and Hasnain by Mohammad Ismail Esfahani? Comparing two works of the artist, what evolution of the artist's artistic style shows? What are the differences and similarities between two works with a common theme in the lacquered mirror frame of Mohammad Ismail?
