Abstract
In Islamic culture, according to the verses of the Holy Qur'an, the world of nature is the manifestation of wisdom, in which certain quantity aspects and quality features of the natural world are discussed, including the celestial aspects. On the other hand, the world of nature is an inspirational source for the creation of works of art such as Iranian miniatures, among which " The Court of Kioumars”, from the illustrated version of Tahmasebi Shahnameh, is an example in which the world of nature is depicted in an exquisite structure. Therefore, this research aims to establish a link between the perception of the Holy Qur'an and the way of illustrating it in the art of painting and the miniature of " The Court of Kioumars" from Tahmasebi Shahnameh. This research is conducted in an analytical-descriptive method based on data matching and the results show that according to Qur'anic verses, the natural world, in addition to the material aspect, has a celestial nature as well, which is derived from the God’s essence, and each of its creatures, in terms of the amount of the profits that they have gained from divine being, possesses wisdom and intelligence. Hence, they are engaged in praise of God. This approach has affected the illustration of “The Court of Kioumars” and is visible in the composition and illustration of the components of the universe, especially its inanimate and vegetative elements.
